Aaron Coote is a highly regarded psychologist with many years of experience in the field. He supports people in addressing, managing, and overcoming many different psychological issues and real-life challenges. Aaron holds membership with the Australian Psychological Society and his practice is focused on working with adult clients.
Aaron weaves together two powerful mechanisms of therapeutic change: personal insight and deepening psychological engagement. He guides clients towards personal insight by creating a high-resolution picture of their thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and actions, and contextualizes each with explanations from evidence-based psychological science. Simultaneously, Aaron attends to the emotional world of his clients, with a specific focus on assembling and deepening their intrapersonal engagement, so that they can process and integrate their experiences in a way that clients find deeply helpful. Aaron finds again and again that when clients gain both self-understanding and emotional clarity, they gain the freedom to pursue a life that best suits their unique personality and their hopes for the future.
Aaron incorporates a wide variety of counselling techniques and treatment modalities in his psychology practice in order to meet the unique needs of each client. Specifically, Aaron employs Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy as his main practice modalities. Additionally, he is passionate about the potential of mindfulness-based and compassion-based interventions. Aaron is endlessly curious about his clients’ experience, and collaborates with his clients to reveal their deepest perspectives about themselves, their relationships, values, goals, and strengths.
