Barb Shearer-Jones is a highly accomplished counsellor with over 10 years of clinical experience who also offers supervision to other counsellors. Barb is a member of the Australian Counselling Association and has experience working with a range of individual clients and couples, from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. Barb has a highly impactful and supportive approach that makes her clients feel comfortable and confident in getting the outcomes they need from counselling.
Barb believes strongly in the power of connecting and listening with compassion and without judgement. She does this by focusing on establishing a strong working alliance and will guide her clients to find greater understanding of their concerns and to make the changes they would like to see. Through unpacking the challenges they face, Barb will help clients to set goals and tap into their inner strength to bring positive growth, greater resilience, an improved wellbeing and happiness for them, transforming the relationship with themselves and with others.
Barb is invested in helping clients succeed, whether it is small steps and big goals, or big steps and small goals. She helps clients make those first steps towards a better and more meaningful life by implementing a person-centred approach and focus on their therapeutic needs. Barb draws on a variety of contemporary models of counselling therapy including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Trauma-Informed Practice, and Mindfulness to support your desire for change and self-empowerment.
